Auto Accidents

Find Relief

If you have been in a car accident, or any type of vehicle collision, you may well be experiencing whiplash and/or back pain as sudden force can cause misalignments in the spine and cause injury to the discs, joints, ligaments, or nerves around it. You don’t have to be driving fast to suffer whiplash or injury to the spine. Some whiplash injuries happen when a car travels at speeds as low as 5 mph.  Symptoms may start immediately after the accident, but in many cases, you may not start experiencing pain until hours, days, or even several weeks later. One common reason for delayed symptoms is that our bodies experience a surge of adrenaline and endorphins during a traumatic event like an auto accident.

Low Level Laser Therapy

We also use the latest in low level laser technology to treat car accident injuries.  We have seen great improvement in many of our patients and we continue to see more research being published supporting the effectiveness of low level (cold) laser therapy.

A two-year study published by the Ontario Protocol for Traffic Injury Management Collaboration (OPTIMC) shows that low level laser therapy is an effective and important treatment for patients suffering from neck and shoulder pain as a result of a car accident.

The study shows that low level laser therapy is recommended for both mild and severe cases of whiplash.  Laser intervention can speed the recovery time for more severe whiplash classified as Type II. “Type II typically involves a substantial loss of anatomical alignment, structural integrity, psychological, cognitive, and/or physiological functioning.”  It is also just as important to seek treatment for mild cases which can lead to prolonged chronic pain in some patients

Low level laser therapy is a great treatment option for car accident patients because it produces no heat, reduces pain, and stimulates the healing process at the cellular level. The gentle, non-heating laser will not cause any additional physical or psychological stress to patients. It is also a great option for those whose injuries are too severe to tolerate exercises or manual therapies in the very acute stages of their care.
